Dr. Perlmutter to Present at Body of Knowledge Series

Researchers now recognize that there exists a wonderful dance between nature and nurture. That is, environmental influences actually control genetic expression, turning on and off genes at any given moment allowing for an unfathomable number of possible manifestations of our 30,000 genes. This science, termed epigenetics, meaning “control over genetics,” holds that various influences including nutrition, emotion and stress can affect which genes are active, and which are not, at any given moment.
This presentation will explore how modifiable factors like positive emotion, stress reduction, specific nutritional intervention, fasting, and exercise can actually modify the expression of our genes leading to positive adaptations in our physiology, specifically leading to improved brain health and function.
